User Experience - A Primer for Startup Marketers
Limited Capacity filling up

To be successful in this era of global competition and rapid product development, it is crucial for startup companies to strike fast with marketing that connects with customers and products that delight them.

User Experience is an essential component of understanding your audience, how to connect with them and create content that draws them in. By far the most important principle in User Experience is 'Know Thy User,' it's how we create great experiences. Marketing can far too often fall into the 'demographics trap;' focusing too much on numbers and not knowing enough about their customers; who are they really?, what motivates them?, how can you speak their language?

Advisor Panel: Everything to Consider with your Mentors and Advisors
Almost all successful entrepreneurs can point to a handful of key mentors and advisors who have helped them along the way. Though both kinds of confidants can be vital to a fledgling business, their differences are important to distinguish, and entrepreneurs should be mindful of how to benefit from each.

As an entrepreneur, we understand that it can be difficult to determine how to utilize each one! Attend this panel on Wednesday of Startup Week to learn what entrepreneurs and startups need to know about working with advisors, and how to best engage your mentor for a successful relationship. UX Design Essential
Limited Capacity filling up

About this workshop:

How do you know that your business is solving the right problems in the right way? Sure you’ve got a great idea and you’re failing fast and watching your analytics, but those are reactive solutions. What if you could be proactive? What if you could find the right problem to solve for your customers out of the gate?

User Experience is a branch of design that tries to answer this question. UX Designers use a variety of research techniques from a variety of disciplines including cognitive psychology and good ol’ fashioned marketing to find the right problem to solve and design the right solution. Their secret? Mostly it comes down to watching and talking to people.

This sounds pretty easy, but so is playing a drum – you just the head with a stick, right? Yet it’s easy to tell a drummer who knows what they’re doing apart from a newbie who just picked up a stick. Take your business beyond banging on things with sticks – spend and evening and learn the basics of rhythm and flow, or in the case of building products proactively with UX insight and design.

In this one night crash course you’ll get a baptism by fire into how UX Design works and how you could start using it to proactively design better products. You’ll leave with knowledge about how UX research works, how to implement different UX research methods in your business. While UX starts with research, we’ll also dive into how UX Design works and what makes it different from plain graphic or web design, and then how research and design work into standard development processes like Agile. You’ll walk away with just enough knowledge to be dangerous.

You’ll Learn How To:

  •
    • Differentiate UX Design from other types of Design

    • Bake UX into your workflow by following a proven, user centered design framework.

    • Use personas to share information about customers and their tasks in an engaging and usable way.

    • Validate your hypotheses with ‘just enough’ research and unmoderated usability test.

    • Get hands on practice with user experience techniques like personas, journey maps and visual story mapping.

    • Integrate UX design work with agile development processes
  •
    • Learn how to engage product, sales, and development folks in the UX design process

More info about this workshop can be found HERE.

New Belgium Brewery-
New Belgium Brewing Company is a craft brewery located in Fort Collins, Colorado. It opened in 1991 after Jeff Lebesch, the brewery's founder, took his homebrewing passion commercially. In 2011, it produced 712,800 barrels of its various labels

P2Binvestor-

P2Binvestor is revolutionizing commercial lending for small and medium-sized businesses through technology and a marketplace model. The businesses we serve are the engines for growth in our economy, yet their access to capital — real capital that doesn’t limit them and can grow with them — is almost nonexistent.

Simply put: We offer a better line of credit to a new generation of business owners and leaders. And we use tech to make everything easier — we facilitate the lending and reporting process so that our clients can spend more time focused on driving their business revenues and less time managing their cash flows.

White Tale Coffee

White Tale Coffee is about sourcing and roasting the best coffee on earth while narrating the stories behind each bag of beans we deliver to your doorstep. One of the founding principles of our company is to tell the stories (yes, where tale comes from) behind the coffee as we explore the world to bring you the best beans, and cups of coffee, possible. Coffee starts in beautiful landscapes, carefully cared for by a wide range of people, until it finds its way to your hands. The characters of the tales range from humble peasants in the mountains of Colombia and women in Ethiopia, to groundbreaking agricultural entrepreneurs in Costa Rica pushing the limits on crafting beans which yield the smoothest, most flavorful base product.

Drizly-
Drizly™ is the technology company powering a superior shopping experience for beer, wine and liquor.
